Welcome to the William Enfield Local History & Genealogy Department

In 2006, Bentonville Public Library and the Northwest Arkansas Genealogy Society formed an extraordinary partnership when the Society donated it's collection of more than 3,000 local history and genealogy resources to be housed in the newly-built library at 405 S. Main Street.

About the Northwest Arkansas Genealogy Society

Northwest Arkansas Genealogy Society volunteers donate their time to the Bentonville Public Library. They serve our community by offering free guidance and some fee-based research assistance with genealogy resources. In the past few years, Society members have volunteered more than 3,775 hours assisting library patrons in family research. It is recommended that you visit the genealogy center when a volunteer is scheduled to work. Call for details or click here for the current volunteer calendar.

The Society produces a quarterly publication, The Backtracker, and serves the Arkansas Counties of Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington. The group welcomes new members. Dues are $15 per year and include an annual subscription to The Backtracker. Northwest Arkansas Genealogy Society meetings are held at the Bentonville Public Library on the 4th Monday each month at 6pm, Jan through Nov. Guests are always welcome at meetings.
