BE A VOLUNTEER AT THE

BPL welcomes and encourages volunteers.  You are invited to join our elite corps of dedicated volunteers.  Volunteers enrich the capabilities of the library.  By sharing your time and talent with us, you can make a big difference in the quality of library service in your community.

Volunteers at BPL come from all walks of life.  Whether you are a teen, adult, senior citizen, employed, or retired, you will be a welcome addition to the library team.  Library volunteers work side by side with the library staff, doing such things as shelf reading, and assisting with special projects.  Don’t worry, we train our volunteers.

As a volunteer you must. . .

ü      Be able to work at least 2 hours per week

ü      Accept direction and ask questions

ü      Be reliable, dependable and prompt

ü      Give adequate notice if unable to come at your scheduled time

ü      Remember to sign in and out to document your hours worked

ü      Do not make personal calls or visit with friends while working

As a volunteer you will also. . .

J Acquire new skills and knowledge

J Gain a sense of satisfaction in serving your community

J Support literacy and life-long learning

J Meet new and interesting people who share your love of books

J Keep up with the latest books

J Be appreciated and recognized for your contribution to the library and community

To volunteer, you just need to come in to the library and fill out a Volunteer Application Form and talk to Debbie Hobbs, the Public Services Librarian and Volunteer Coordinator.  She will help you set up your work schedule and arrange for your training and duties.

We welcome your gift of time and talent!
